Assistant Teachers Course
Presented by teacher trainers from Foundations for Learning, Zurich, this course is perfect for anyone working in early years and primary level classrooms, who doesn’t already have a formal teaching qualification. It is also a useful refresher course for people returning to teaching after some years.
This course runs from September 17th, 2011 until June 2012, taking place once a month on Saturdays from 09.00 - 13.00.
It will be held in the Zurich area at a venue to be announced in due course.
The course fee is CHF 2000.-, which includes all course materials including two text books. You may also attend single 4-hour sessions at a cost of CHF300/session

- child development
- roles and responsibilities of teaching assistants
- encouraging independent learning
- drawing up essential protocols with teachers
- "brain based learning"
- attention difficulties: maintaining concentration and focus
- supporting children with reading difficulties
- supporting children with writing difficulties
- behaviour management
- speech and language difficulties
- teaching maths
- observing children in the classroom
- autism
- reflective practice
- EAL
- ongoing professional development
